GETTING AROUND IN THE CITY
GETTING AROUND IN BUDAPEST - USEFUL INFO

TAXI

When you take a taxi in the city choose one that belongs to a company, like Főtaxi, (+36-)1-2-111-111, City Taxi: (+36-)1-2-111-111. Taxis are yellow and have a "Licenced Budapest Taxi" sign on them. All taxis have fixed tariffs in Budapest: 450 HUF + 280 HUF/km. If you feel your ride was overpriced call the company the taxi belongs to (it is written on the cab itself), they will take care of your complaint quickly.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Our apartments are very central so you can discover the city mostly by walking, but Public Transport is very efficient as well. Ticket controls are frequent so I don't recommend travelling without a ticket. You can find the various ticket options here  EU Citizens older than 65 year old travel for free, but they need to verify their age with a valid ID card.

You can find a great trip planner on the PT company's website (bkk.hu) where you can search for accessible rides as well.
