SHOPPING GUIDE
Our apartments are in the very center of the city, so you can find practically every kind of shop nearby. In this guide I'll suggest you the closest and best shopping options, and some "hidden treasures".
Some practical information:

Public holidays when shops remain closed: 1st January, 15th March, Eastern Monday, 1th May, Pentacost Monday, 20th August, 23th October, 1st November, 25th-26th December

supermarkets and other shops generally accept payment with card, but you can only pay with cash in most market halls.

I suggest you not to withdraw money from Euronet ATMs, even though they are everywhere; they apply very high commissions and terrible exchange rates. There are several safe ATMs operated by banks, and you can pay by card in most of the shops / restaurants / bars.
1. SPAR SUPERMARKET

The closest general supermarket, you can find everything here but fruits and fresh meat is not the best quality, I suggest you to buy those from the nearby greengrocer and butcher.
2. SPAR KÖRÚT SUPERMARKET
TERÉZ KÖRÚT 2 - JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM Ó APARTMENT
OPEN: MON-SAT 06:30 - 22:00 SUN 08:00-18:00
It is clsoer to Ó Apartment, big supermarket where you can find everything.
3. KLAUZÁL MARKET HALL AND SPAR SUPERMARKET
KLAUZÁL TÉR 11. - 5-7 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENTS
OPEN: MON-SAT 06:30 - 21:00
Newly renovated, beautiful market hall with gourmet shops and a huge supermarket.
4. GREENGROCER
NAGYMEZŐ UTCA 7. - 2 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENT
OPEN: MON-FRI 08:00-18:00, SAT: 10:00-13:00
Small but good quality greengrocer a few steps from the apartment.
5. LUMEN ORGANIC GREENGROCER
KLAUZÁL TÉR 14. - 5-7 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENT
OPEN: MON-FRI 07:00-19:00 SUN 07:00-14:00
Fresh, organic vegetables and fruits and other organic products.
6. PÁLINKÁS BUTCHER
HAJÓS U. 21., JUST A BLOCK AWAY
Classic butcher shop where you can also eat the traditional "butcher lunch": freshly baked sausage or fried pork with bread and mustard, rigorously on foot :)
7. DM - DROGERIE MARKT
ANDRÁSSY ÚT 35 - JUST AROUND THE CORNER
OPEN MON-FRI 08:00-21:00, SAT 09:00-20:00 SUN 09:00-19:00
Cosmetics, household products and also a selection of organic and glutein free food . You can find many travel-sized and organic cosmetics, baby food and make-up products too.
24/7 MINIMARKET AND TOBACCO SHOP
NAGYMEZŐ UTCA 47., JUST AROUND THE CORNER
Non-stop minimarket next to an authorized tobacco shop. The tobacco shop is open Mon-Fri from 06:00-18:00, Sat 07:00 - 14:00.
8. HUNYADI TÉRI PIAC - MARKET HALL
HUNYADI TÉR 4. - 8 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENT
OPEN: MON: 06:30-17:00, TUE-FRI 06:30-18:00 SAT 06:30-14:00
My favourite marketplace; farmer's market on every Friday and Saturday till 14:00! Ypu can fnd fresh vegetables, fruit andmeat at very reasonable prices. The cheesshop in the corner is excellent. Please note that ome shops close already at 14:00 also during weekdays.
9. HOLD UTCAI PIAC or DOWNTOWN MARKET
HOLD UTCA 13. - 15 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENT

The market sells fresh fruits and vegetables, besides authentic Hungarian specialities from grey cattle beef through mangalitza pork to Hungarian beverages, and also hosts quality streetfood bistros.
10. NAGYCSARNOK - GREAT MARKET HALL
VÁMHÁZ KRT. 1-3 - 20 MINUTES FROM THE APARTMENT (BY TRAM 47/49 FROM DEÁK TÉR)
OPEN: MON: 06:30-17:00, TUE-FRI 06:30-18:00 SAT 06:30-14:00
The biggest and most famous market hall. The recently renovated basement level offer high quality Hungarian food products. The ground floor is the classic marketplace with meat, fruit and vegetable traders, while on the 1st floor you can find restaurants and souvenir shops.

JSB is a contemporary fashion brand offering high quality designer clothes. The concept is constantly collaborating with various branches of art especially with visual arts. Their collections are uniqe and cool - check out their little boutique nearby!

Vörösmarty tér and Váci utca have always been the high-street shopping area of the city, wile Deák Ferenc utca has recently been renovated to host elegant stores and bars. From mid-November to 6 January this area is also the venue of the beautiful CHRISTMAS MARKET where you can find quality handcrafted products and taste typical Hungarian dishes and street food.
17. MAMMUT SHOPPING CENTER
SZÉNA TÉR - WWW.MAMMUT.HU
High street fashion, bookstore, electronics, cosmetics and household products, restaurants, bars, cinema - whatever a big shopping mall can offer. Reach it easily by the tram 4/6 from Oktogon in direction to Széll Kálmán tér (Széna tér stop).
18. FALK MIKSA UTCA
The famous antique row of Budapest is in Falk Miksa utca, it is filled with small antique shops and galleries. The shops are great for finding unique gifts and souvenirs. Reach it easily by tram 4-6 from Oktogon to Jàszai MAri tòr, or walk in the direction of the Parliament building (15-20 minutes from our apartments).
19. PROJEKT SHOWROOM
BÉCSI UTCA 1-3 - FACEBOOK.COM/PROJEKTSHOWROOM
A series of pop-up stores organized every time in a different theme and opening in a new location, with the products of young Hungarian designers and craftsmen. For now you can find it in Becsi utca 3. Probably the best place to pick up a souvenir.
20. PECSA FLEA-MARKET
AT PETŐFI CSARNOK IN THE CITY PARK, ZICHY MIHÁLY U. 14.
